Quicksilver

Flute, Vibraphone and Cello (2019)

This piece was written for the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players' Competition SF Search 2019, and was selected as one of the winning pieces. It was performed on SFCMP's concert "Guerrilla Sounds: Julius Eastman's Legacy" on March 11th, 2019. It initiates with a phasing pattern between all three instruments on a single note. Gradually the harmonies diverge, and the rhythms become more complex. The piece is broken into parts of rhythmic phasing and rhythmic unity.
